In addition to our Code of Conduct, we have some safety and safeguarding measures in place to support our players and members.
Policies
Please click the link to review our Heart of Kent Gaming Policy. This includes our policies, safeguarding rules and risk assessments.
Accessing safeguarding training
Safeguarding children and adults against harm is paramount to our values as a club. If you would like to access training to understand more of what this looks like and what this entails, you can visit the following sites:
https://www.kscmp.org.uk/training

https://kmsab.org.uk/professionals/kmsab-training

First Aid
We have our own first aid kit and qualified first aiders. These include: Ricky, Helen, Lydia, Christina and Darren.
Just outside the building we have a defibrillator.
DBS checked adults
Our under 18s table is run by enhanced DBS checked adults, Lydia and Ricky. We also have Dan S, Simon and Christina who have had DBS checks through their work.
To ensure safety, we ask that under 18s are accompanied by a responsible adult over 18 whether that is a parent/carer/neighbour/family friend.
LADO– Local Authority Designated Officer
If a young person within the group reports a concern about another young person or adult within the group then these concerns can be reported to the NSPCC, Kent Police, Kent Children’s Services. However, if the concern relates to a Dungeon Master or member of the committee, who have a duty of care in their volunteering role, then it may be appropriate for LADO to also be notified, particularly if that adult also works within a sector that relates to the care of children.
For more information about what LADO is and does, you can visit the National LADO Network at https://national-lado-network.co.uk/the-role-of-the-lado-local-authority-designated-officer/
Emergency contacts if you are worried
If any player or member is worried about anything within the group relating to themselves or another person, then there are some different numbers they can contact for advice and support. We also have a designated safeguarding lead called Hayley, who members and players can contact for guidance and advice.
If you’re in doubt, speak out. In an emergency, call 999.
